Genencor’s collaborations with leading detergent manufacturers have enabled us to develop safer, more effective cleaning agents for household and industrial use.
Adding protein- and cellulose-degrading enzymes to soaps and detergents helps them do a better job of removing tough stains from clothes or dishes - without using harsh chemicals.
Our enzyme products for cleaners are also biodegradable and replace chemicals, such as phosphates, that harm the environment.

Our innovations in enzyme and formulation technology enable us to discover new products that meet specific customer needs. For example, we’ve developed:
- Bleach-stable amylases and proteases for the laundry and automatic dishwashing detergent markets
- A highly efficient protease for cold-water use
- Alkaline cellulases engineered to boost laundry detergent cleaning performance
- A protease powerhouse, PURAFECT® PRIME, that chews up protein stains to wipe out plumbing clogs, laundry stains, and foul odors
In addition, our formulation capabilities allow us to create enzymes that can be used in many detergent product forms including granules, liquids, tablets, and gels.
